How to get to BIRC
 


The Brain Imaging Research Center is in the McGowan Institute building located at 3025 East Carson Street. When coming from the Hot Metal Bridge, this is the second building on the left, across the street from the "Splash & Dash" car wash. Just past the McGowan Institute, there is an access road leading to the rear parking lot. Turn left onto this road and park in the lot.

  Directions from the Pittsburgh International Airport
 
  • Leaving the airport, follow the exit marked "To Pittsburgh, PA-60"
  • Follow PA-60; it merges with US-30,US-22, and eventually becomes US-279
  • Continue on US-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnel onto the Fort Pitt Bridge
  • Take the Boulevard of the Allies through downtown Pittsburgh, heading towards the Oakland area
    Turn right onto Bates Street (third traffic light after downtown)
  • At Second Avenue (first traffic light), turn left
  • At Hot Metal Street (next light), turn right and cross the Hot Metal Bridge
  • When Hot Metal Street ends at Carson Street, turn left
  Directions from the North (I-579)
 
  • Take I-579 south, crossing the Veterans Bridge
  • Follow the Monroeville exit to the Boulevard of the Allies
  • Take the Boulevard of the Allies, heading towards the Oakland area
  • Turn right onto Bates Street (third traffic light after downtown)
  • At Second Avenue (first traffic light), turn left
  • At Hot Metal Street (next light), turn right and cross the Hot Metal Bridge
  • When Hot Metal Street ends at Carson Street, turn left
  Directions from the East (I-376)
 
  • Take I-376 west to "Exit 7B - Glenwood"
  • At end of exit ramp, turn right onto Bates Street
  • At Second Avenue (first traffic light), turn left
  • At Hot Metal Street (next light), turn right and cross the Hot Metal Bridge
  • When Hot Metal Street ends at Carson Street, turn left
